From working on submarine propellers to creating decorative wall hangings, James has probably worked on just about everything in between when it comes to welding. James grew up in Muskegon, Michigan. He then joined the Marines which allowed him to spend a substantial amount of time in Japan. After James completed his military service, he called San Diego, California home and began a family and his welding career. James completed art classes with the Washington School of Art. Over 30 years later, James continues his love of artistic welding. James has set up booths locally in art shows in Saugatuck, Grand Haven, Muskegon, Spring Lake and Norton Shores to name a few. James enjoys creating things from salvaged materials, and especially enjoys creating tables from things such as antique sewing machines, furnace grates and horse hames to name a few. This year, James has decided to create a sculpture that he has envisioned for years in his home workshop. The sculpture is not yet completed, however renderings are enclosed, as well as samples of some of his work. The contemporary sculpture is anticipated to be approximately 8’ tall by 5’ wide
