Inez Baturo

Inez Baturo - artist photographer, translator, publisher, editor. Born in 1966. Master’s degree in English Philology. She lives in Bielsko-Biała. Poland. Co-founder and Vice-President of the Foundation Centre of Photography (since 2004). One of organisers of the FotoArtFestival (a biennial of top world photography) and its Program Director (since 2005). Co-owner of the Baturo Publishing House (1991-2015). Co-founder and co-curator the Gallery of Photography B&B in Bielsko-Biała (since 1992). A member of the Union of Polish Artists Photographers (ZPAF) since 1999. Vice-President of the Mountain Division of the Union of Polish Artists Photographers (2004-2008). Her photographs have been published (among others) in: “Playboy”, “Voyage”, “National Geographic”, “Podróże”. The author the books: “The Beskidy Mountains”, “The Beskids”, “Cieszyn”, "Inez Baturo - Landscape Photography". Images published in books: “Polish Mountains”, “Bielsko-Biała”. Her name is included in the publication - “Masters of Polish Landscape” and in prestigious „Women`s History of Photography” by Naomi Rosenblum (Abbeville Press, Nowy York, 2009). She has translated into Polish “World History of Photography” by Naomi Rosenblum (Abbeville Press, New York). One of the founders of the Union of Polish Nature Photographers (in 2006). Member of the Forum Agency (Warsaw, Poland). Member of the IRIS, the organisation promoting women in arts (Great Britain). She runs the Photo Meetings - workshops on photography for adults (since 2012). She organises numerous courses, workshops, and meetings. She takes landscape photography mainly, but she also took some theatre, fashion, and portrait. Prizes: - Grand Prix, Contest of Mountain Photography, Nowy Targ (1990); - Grand Prix, Contest of Mountain Photography, Nowy Targ (1992); - Silver Medal, Contest of Mountain Photography, Nowy Targ (1994); - The Prize of the President of Bielsko-Biala City in Culture - Ikar 2005; - The Main Prize of the Year of the Minister of Culture for Eminent Achievements in Plastic Arts (2007); - Grant of the Association of Polish Authors (ZAiKS), Warsaw 2011; - Grant of the Association of Polish Authors (ZAiKS), Warsaw 2012; - Nomination to the Beskid Angel of Success Award by the Academy of Entrepreneurship and Success in Bielsko-Biała 2012; - Grant of the Cultural Department of Bielsko-Biała City (2013). Prizes for the album “The Beskids”: - Jantar Book (prize for the most beautiful book of the year), Meetings of Good Book Publishers, Gdańsk (1995); - the Prize in the Contest of the Society of Polish Book Publishers (1995). Numerous solo exhibitions, organised in Poland, France, Lithuania, Latvia, Holland, and Czech Republic. Work in collections: - British Library (Women`s Issues) in London, Great Britain; - Historic Museum (Castle) in Bielsko-Biała, Poland;  - Special Collection of the Public Library in Lublin, Poland; - Museum of Humanity, Great Britain; - private collections.
