Hello, my name is Howard Riopelle, I received my MFA from MICA (Maryland Institute College of Art) Shortly after graduating I was fortunate enough to become a member of the “Beautiful Walls for Baltimore” (a NEA program). I completed two murals of my own (Large painted steel pieces), and assisted on three others. After freelancing for a few years I joined the art dept. of IBM and as a senior Illustrator worked on both computer graphic and fine art projects. I left IBM in 1997 to pursue teaching at the College level. I have taught Drawing, Fundamentals, Art Appreciation, 2-D and 3-D Design. I received an “Outstanding Teaching Award” in 2002. In conjunction with college teaching I have maintained a shop and studio called "Ironsmith Design" creating hand forged and fabricated artistic ironwork in the Balt. and Metro D.C.areas. Recently I have been combining stainless steel and glass to create Fine Art works.
