I am a graphic designer, photographer, and educator. I teach in the Department of Advertising + Public Relations at Michigan State University. When I'm making art, I'm an artist. [ Thank you John Baldessari.] I'm mostly interested in seeing ideas come to life... process.. making... creating experiences that challenge me personally first, then hopefully, also connect to others. Uncharted explorations outside my comfort zone give me a buzz... I participated in ArtPrize in 2011 with 'touch wood,' a low-tech interactive project at GRAM, and with two site-specific outdoor project entitled 'gravity matters little' in 2012, and "i want to be different," in 2013 – both projects installed 180ft above the ground at the busy intersection of Ionia Street and Monroe Center, and hosted by First Community Bank (formerly Select Bank). In 2014 I'm going dark... menacing... "there's something happening here," is a line from a 60s song done by Buffalo Springfield which could have been written right now -- bummer! ... maybe something more whimsical in 2015?
These are Henry's official ArtPrize entries from this year and past years.
