Hans Neleman (American, 1960) is a Dutch-born photographer and artist. Neleman studied Fine Art at Goldsmiths University in London, England. He holds a Bachelor’s in Film & Photography and a Master of Art degree from New York University. He studied with Robert Mapplethorpe, Duane Michals and Arnold Newman, and assisted William Wegman. Neleman’s photography, still life and portraiture, is highly regarded in the commercial and advertising arena and his personal work has been published and exhibited internationally. Moko: Maori Tattoo (1999) was featured at the Biennale de Lyon, France, and exhibited at The Peabody Essex Museum. Silence (2000) a collection of his large format personal stills was first shown at the Visual Arts Museum in New York City, and Night Chicas (2003) was launched with a one-man show at Ricco Maresca Gallery in Chelsea, New York City. In 2007 Neleman founded the boutique stock agency WIN-Initiative, based in SoHo, New York City. WIN licenses an artistic photo collection of contemporary concepts and lifestyles from global cultures. Neleman works from his studio in New York and a loft in a former lace factory in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where he paints and creates his new assemblages.
