Creative play was part of my everyday world growing up, and my introduction to art began by watching my mother paint with oils in our small dining room. My formal career as an artist began in textiles and moved into a Master's Degree in painting which incorporated texture and mixed media. Eventually I made the leap into 3 dimensional form, and for the past 20 years I have created mixed media sculpture. I have been honored with many local, state, and national awards, and have recently started to show my work internationally. Provocative topics, opposing forces, sacred spaces, irreverence and humor factor into my work as I employ a wide variety of materials to create my forms. Creating and engineering a sculpture challenges me with problem-solving on many levels, and I enjoy the entire process.
