Gabriel Craig is a metalsmith, writer and craft activist. His studio work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, and has appeared in numerous books and magazines. Craig’s performative use of craft engages diverse audiences in discussions about self-sufficiency, labor, consumption, and tradition. His critical writing has appeared in prominent craft publications including Metalsmith, American Craft and FiberArts magazines. He has lectured throughout the country on his own artistic work, decorative arts history and contemporary craft. He has held residencies at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft and the Savannah College of Art and Design. Craig received his BFA in Metals/ Jewelry from Western Michigan University and his MFA in Jewelry and Metalworking from Virginia Commonwealth University. He lives and maintains a studio in Detroit with his fiancée and fellow metalsmith, Amy Weiks.
