I am a lifetime Michigan resident artist from Spring Lake and have spent most of the past fifteen winters in Delray Beach, Florid. I am a furniture design graduate of KCAD and began abstract figurative sculpturing roughly twenty years ago. An early and continuing defining characteristic of my sculpture has been the anonymous walking figure in a public place, similar in statement to the public works of Alberto Giacometti but in different stylistic execution and materials. Having begun my career in the Western Michigan furniture industry I am intimately familiar with multiple species wood as a medium, starting in reductive method, single piece works in ascending scale, from small to ten feet vertical. More recently I have been combining elemental wood parts to welded steel skeleton/torsos to achieve greater scale for public work. Some of my influences besides Giacometti are Calder, Moore, Archipenko, Brancusi, Arp, Hepworth, Smith (David & Tony), Antony Gormley and locally Bernard Baker, d.1984.
