I am a printmaker that graduated in 2013 with a BFA from Grand Valley State University. In 2015 I entered the Barry County Artist Exhibit with a wood block print called "Thick as Mosquitoes," and it was awarded 3rd place. I have also submitted some volunteer pieces in Rivertown Crossings Mall be Nice Bench event and Chair Affair in Mount Pleasant. I Have worked at Walmart, Interned at Thornapple Arts Council, and I'm now a stay at home mom taking care of two special needs children. My 5 year old son, Tate, who is autistic and my 3 year old daughter, Lydia who has a Congenital heart defect/disease. My day consists of a lot of appointments, giving medicines, phone calls and anything my kids need. Recently I started creating artwork but his time my art medium of choice is colored pencil. I decided to start creating artwork about being a special needs parent and help others who have felt the way I have over the last couple years. So Behind the smiles is the first drawing of my new series of artwork. I have recently submitted Behind the Smiles to Barry County Artist Exhibit and it won 2nd place. I also found out it has already touched several peoples lives that has a family member with CHD. It is my hope that the artwork can reach numerous people and help them feel like they are not alone.
