My name is Edith Ellwood Pair and my artist name is "ellair." This is a derivative of the street I grew up on in Grosse Pointe and my full name. Every piece I do evokes what I call "sophisticated whimsy" and is supposed to make you smile and not take life too seriously. I have artwork in numerous galleries around Northern Michigan and reside in Charlevoix. I love to make people feel at ease with my use of fun art and color and my clients are custom ordering my "fishflies" like crazy. These are fish I hand make from scratch and are used as wall hangings, installations and on stands as a sculpture. Matisse is by far my favorite artist and can only strive to achieve his use of distortion and color as a means of expression. My style continues to develop over the years and I am so so proud to be in my 3rd year at ArtPrize. I always have a "pear on a plate" in every piece so the buyer knows this is a one-of-a-kind, "ellair" original!!
