I am a Chicago native who has worked in the art field since 1993. Creating art has been in my blood for as long as I can remember. Some of my earliest and most cherished childhood memories revolve around drawing and painting. By the time I entered high school I knew I would pursue a career in the arts, so I immersed myself as much as one’s schedule would allow. My commitment paid off as I was awarded "Outstanding Senior in Art" as well as my first publication – a cover image of one of my paintings on Arts and Activities magazine. I attended the American Academy of Art in Chicago from 1988 – 1992, where I studied under artists such as LuAnn Burkhardt, Ted Smuskiewicz and Robert Krajecki. I received degrees in both Fine Art (painting) and Graphic Design (Illustration). In 1993 I was hired by Skyline Design as a muralist and worked there until 1999. While there, I was fortunate enough to work with and learn from Jeff Rutter. Over the years I have worked on a freelance basis with him and his company I.D.E.A. In 2000, I began working with Acme Design as their in-house master painter. This work focused mainly on painting smaller scale models. Owner and Lead Artist Clint Borucki designated my job title as “Queen of Color”. For nearly two decades I have had the privilege to participate in numerous group shows and juried exhibitions. One highlight was in 1997; I was honored to have my first water-figure "Ophelia" accepted into a group exhibition. It was themed "Figurative Abstraction", and was held at the beautiful Fine Arts Gallery on Michigan Avenue. The show was juried by the brilliant Ed Paschke. On opening night, I walked in to find Ophelia front and center - on her own wall. Later that evening Mr. Paschke spoke in front of my painting - what a privilege. Over the years, I have been fortunate enough to receive many commissions ranging from scapes to abstract. One genre that is especially close to my heart is portraiture. When I have the chance to paint an animal portrait, I am at my most content as I am combining two of my greatest loves.
