Carefully composed and analyzed, Debra Henrichs’ paintings depict a bit of the edginess of the everyday life of those doing physical work. Smudges of black convey a grittiness that depicts the essence of hard work. Her paintings emit the feeling of the working man – the physical work with a calming peace. Movement and emotion of the workers can be felt in how she imagined them. Debra’s use of vibrant and lively colors provides an unexpected contrast that brings the working scene and story to life. Bike commutes regularly between West Loop and Old Town Self-taught (as is every artist) via observing, reading, listening, learning AND repetitive practice A maker, doer and joyful recipient of serendipity moments A focus on continuous improvement; usually make lots of something My art reflects what I feel I just look, sense and massage the painting and stop at my “perfect enough”.
