In a former life, David Stricklen was the GR Airport Police Chief with 30 years experience in law enforcement. Now retired, David has gone all in on his creative side. He has written three middle grade fantasy adventure books in the Blackwater Pond Series. His 4th (and newest book) is entitled Ripley Robinson and the Worm Charmer. His books are sought after for their fast-moving and unpredictable style. David’s many school visits are filled with magic and creativity. www.Blackwaterpond.com. David had a creative idea that better fit on canvas, thus resulting in his first ArtPrize entry in 2017. In 2018, he took the idea to the next level (an ArtPrize finalist). And in 2020 he has taken it where no painting has gone before. The work is the biggest yet at 9 feet and the entire painting moves. He took what he learned and applied it to the shape of a face (and it works). The face actually appears to follow you. The canvas is 3D and is painted in reverse perspective. This creates the illusion of movement as you move past. I have personally not seen a similar design.
