David Satterwhite was born in 1947 in Flint, Michigan. He is a Vietnam veteran (1966) who’s pride level is at the top of the scale for our Eagle, Flag, Troops and our country. He is a sculptor whose works are primarily of metal, using found & repurposed objects. His sculptures are notable for their whimsy suggestions of movement yet, the subjects are sometimes very abstract and realistic. He creates art that he feels encourages people to look beyond the obvious and see the hidden beauty and meaning. He specializes in works for the garden and outdoors, most notably, Figures, Rustic gates, and Arbors but also creates works to be enjoyed indoors and in closed setting. His work “Unknown Species”, was one of twelve selected out of hundreds for the Art & Gardens 2011 event held at Applewood Estates, Michigan. He also has displayed pieces in Mootzies Gallery in Owosso, Michigan. While he designs pieces that are primarily to be enjoyed for their beauty, he appreciates work used in a practical way such as ornate garden gates and arbors. The materials repurposed are often everyday items that enjoy a new and important life as objects of art. Dave is also an airbrush artist and has received much recognition for his amazing talent. He founded Wolfhound Graphics in Flint. Michigan and headed the company until 2007 when it was sold. Dave is primarily self-taught and believes that every piece gives him new insight into his capability and ultimate artistic goals. Every work has a story to tell, maybe several, and he leaves it to his viewers to discover just what his art is saying to them. His talent and craftsmanship guides his art and he hopes to share his message with others. Finding the beauty/potential new life in metal objects seems to be his gift.
