Boundaries and their imposed limitations are imbedded in all of human history. There are geographical boundaries like mountains and human made boundaries of stone and steel. We all have boundaries of our own psyche which unfortunately limit us more than mountains or fences. This piece echos all of these boundaries as portrayed by the marble and granite mountains being contained by the closely spaced vertical bars. It is interesting that as you look at this piece the vertical 1/4 inch diameter steel bars appear to be more formidable than the distant mountains. This is true for our own inner self inflicted or societally inflicted boundaries which can at times be more formidable that massive boundaries of steel or stone.
