McAllen, TX, United States

My name is Dalice, and I am proud to be from the Mexican state of Sonora. When I was very young I found awaking in me an interest in painting and the great love that I have for animals and the outdoors. When I am painting I can spend hours and hours without feeling that I am spending any time. Painting is where I feel free -- translating my feelings to the canvas, playing with colors and contrasting mixtures for making my art. Over the years I have participated in both solo exhibitions joint shows with other artists. I have also had the opportunity to enrich my knowledge, learning and techniques by learning with renowned Mexican and international masters. I Love the monarch butterflies!!! Their marvelous evolution from egg to caterpillar to pupa to beautiful adult fascinates me because we go through similar evolutions in the short lives we are given. They begin their migration from Canada in early October and arrive in Michoacan, Mexico in early November where they stay for five months and then return to their home in the north. Like me, they have their heart both in Mexico and America! Their life journey, beauty and color are what motivated me to create “The sanctuary of the Monarch,” which is painted in acrylic measures 8ft x 12ft. The Monarch butterfly also teaches us to be aware of the planet we have been given. Let’s take care of it! This is my first time at Artprize, and I thank you very much for the opportunity! Saludos! Dalice
