Cynthia is an artist, producer, creative, and professional chicken hugger. A social entrepreneur, she finds that connecting people to art-enhanced events — and to each other — helps her connect to herself. Cynthia’s greatest passion these days is being able to bring people out to her expansive Lowell property for a variety of restorative experiences including her popular art-infused outdoor Lawn pARTies and intimate indoor Brunch pARTies, hosting an array of scrumptious healthy whole foods, including her famous quiches. Hosting and cooking for guests in therapeutic, cathartic, art-enhanced experiences where folks can unwind, relax and reconnect with themselves and each other has become one of her greatest joys in life. Some of Cynthia’s other core pet projects currently are Care on Canvas, in which she provides painting opportunities for children with cancer and others in challenging circumstances. A sister program to Care on Canvas is Leadership on Canvas, an annual ArtPrize exhibit connecting Grand Rapids-area and West Michigan leaders to the experience of becoming artists themselves. As founding executive producer of Square Peg Events, Cynthia has spent more than 15 years producing large- and small-scale events in Grand Rapids and for various communities throughout the Midwest, including Grand Rapids’ DowntownLIVE, Kids ArtFest, Live Mannequin Night, Progressive Tastings, Artful Dining and many others. An art educator for more than 20 years, Cynthia serves as an Independent Docent for the Art Institute of Chicago, with an emphasis in French 19th-century paintings. Cynthia has done more than 40 live-painting events in support of local organizations, including performances for Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital, Grand Rapids Art Museum, Grand Rapids Children’s Museum and Holland Symphony Orchestra. Cynthia’s educational beginning was in fashion design and merchandising with her core studies in her passion — economics — at Northwood University. She continued her studies with endorsements in education and art anthropology with her undergraduate work accomplished at Indiana University with honors. Cynthia is excited for the opportunity to provide a place of respite and wellness where women can relax, take a breath and get in touch with themselves, with art and with nature, while enjoying a healthful, healing cuisine in the process
