He has attended three artist residencies since then, one with the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs in 2008, one with Mano Y Mente (Tularosa, NM) in 2008, and one with Red Bull House of Art (Detroit, MI) in 2012. Nowak apprenticed under stone sculptor Somers Randolph in 2012-13. Nowak also has an extensive biography, having been published in periodicals such as Modern Painters, NY Arts, Arte Al Limite, Arte Al Dia, and Chicago Gallery News. In 2014, Nowak was awarded the BEST OF: Best Local Artist Award from Real Detroit Weekly. He has exhibited his art throughout the United States and Europe and is currently overseeing production on two new interactive bodies of work, both in connection with Henry Ford Academy (Detroit, MI). The first project involves life-casting and ceramic faces while the second project involves a mural-sized landscape painting which he will be sewing student paintings atop of. Both projects will be exhibited in May 2017.
