Chris Worland has been a fabric artist for over 30 years. Her designs and art work grew from traditional quilt patterns to art quilts to modern quilts. Currently she has been working with community social justice quilts. Many of her quilts have been influenced by her travels. She has researched and curated exhibits on indigenous fabrics of West Africa and her work has been greatly influenced by these textiles. She has been a guest artist at The Residential College in the Arts and Humanities, Michigan State University for ten years and is a research associate for the MSU Museum. She has had solo shows at MSU and Woven Art Gallery and has a quilt in the museum collection. She is an artist and award winner for guild shows, Art Centers and the Michigan Quilt Artists Invitational. She has curated exhibits of Malian textiles and has served as illustrator for the Mali Picture Book Project, Institute for Popular Education, Kati, Mali. Recently, Chris Coordinated the Community Quilt Project, 60/50 Quilted Conversations at MSU which produced four community quilts on the topic of human rights.
