On my father's side of the family, we have three generations of educators, while on my mother's side I am a third-generation artist. As a Teaching-Artist, educational and grant-funded initiatives have brought my work, traveling exhibit, and message of social equity through the arts to over two hundred classes of K-college students across 28 schools. The power of educating our next generation of artists and cultural reformers is not to be underestimated. They must be taught to believe that WE CAN. Hand-in-hand, collaborative community works gather people of all backgrounds and diversity towards a common cause. Recent works involve both interior and exterior large-scale honorariums and collaborative community projects, independent commissions, and mosaic-surfaced guitars. All creative initiatives fall within the title "paraclete": to come alongside another in order to do together more than we can alone. One of my goals is to communicate and initiate in such a way as to keep art accessible for all and to open new doors for others that have formerly been shut. My strong commitment to family, faith, lake-cabin life, 4 kids/2 dogs, and dreaming up new projects keeps me grounded, learning, and seeking beauty in unexpected places.
