I am 29 years old, live in Chicago, IL and and am originally from Grand Rapids, MI. As a child and throughout high school I always had a passion for creating art, whether it be painting, ceramics, film, crafts, etc. Whereas some people are naturally good at math or science, for me it was always art. The funny thing is though, I never really liked to draw specifically and one day stopped making art all together. After taking a 10+ year hiatus from creating much of anything, last year in February of 2017, I got the flu and stayed home for several days. When endless hours of Netflix began to bore me, I found a photo of a guy's face online and decided I was going to draw it. This very act of creating again after such a long break shook me emotionally in a way that I did not anticipate. After completing the drawing of the man, I felt proud, but later guilty and sad. "What would my talents look like today if I had never stopped developing my skills," I thought. From that moment forward, I committed to continuing my drawing practices and began to teach myself new techniques as well as challenge myself with every new piece created. As an artist my goal is to never be satisfied so that I am always pushing myself further and further.
