I have enjoyed making art for as long as I can remember. As I grew up, being an artist became a part of my identity. I like working in a number of mediums from drawing and painting, to fused glass, sculpting, and ceramics. I am an artist and a teacher. I'm also a traveler, a sister, a friend, a wife, a daughter, a runner, and an awkward soccer player. All of these things influence who I am and the art that I make. I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Art from Hope College in 2002 and a Master's Degree in Art Education from Western Michigan University in 2008. I believe that art is a language; a means by which humans document their experiences and communicate with one another. I have spent the past 9 years of my life trying to help high school students develop their ability to communicate visually. My artwork is my voice. It is a reflection of who I am and the way I encounter the world around me.
