Casey Dressell is a practicing painter and installation artist living and working in Cincinnati Ohio and Louisville Kentucky. Her interests lie in the intersections of art, nature and the built environment. She teaches at Miami University and the University of Dayton, and is the curator, and exhibition coordinator at The Indian Hill Gallery in Cincinnati. Casey received a BFA at The University of Cincinnati and a MFA at Miami University. She has exhibited her work nationwide in shows in California, Michigan, and Massachusetts, including an outdoor installation at Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest in Shepherdsville, Kentucky. In addition to her studio practice, Casey is passionate about learning, education, and helping her community. My work combines my life experiences, a DIY mindset, and an overall wonderment in how individuals manufacture meaning and the multiple modes of constructing and understanding one’s environment and transcending from challenges. I am intrigued by what humans can achieve with self determination, self examination, and striving to exist beyond conventional categories. When we find meaning and purpose we feel a sense of connection to our environment and the universe, with a felt sense of harmony and well being.
