On August 15, we welcomed all volunteers and friends of art to our Volunteer Kick-Off Rally on the 5th Floor of 55 Campau Ave. in downtown Grand Rapids. The event drew nearly 500 volunteers and people eager to be the face and voice of ArtPrize.
The Kent County String Band kept the room entertained all evening, while ArtPrize 2010 Grand Prize Winner Chris LaPorte drew caricatures of our amazing volunteers.
We also kicked-off the voting season by revealing the ArtPrize VOTE ART 2012 campaign. If art had a spokesperson, it would be a volunteer. During the 19-day event, volunteers are the first point of access for people who visit our city and they are the source of answers and assistance for nearly 350,000 people.
This year, our volunteers will also help drive home the importance of voting during ArtPrize. Whether its voting, volunteering or hosting an artist, ART WINS when we all get involved!
