Artists from 45 states and 47 countries, including Japan, South Africa and Israel, will be joining us for ArtPrize 2013. This means that it is officially time to prepare to welcome the very most important people of ArtPrize - OUR ARTISTS!

Many artists risk great amounts to travel to Grand Rapids and share their work with the ArtPrize audience. Artist hosting is one awesome way that we Grand Rapidians can help artists offset their costs, showcase our legendary Midwest hospitality and form profound, meaningful relationships with artists who come from all over the world.

Erica Curry Van Ee,  a long-time ArtPrize enthusiast and host of four artists, including 2011 Top 10 Finalist, Young Kim, described her experience: “Throughout our years of hosting artists, we have seen the most ordinary of moments transform into the most exciting. From hanging drywall to making late night trips to Home Depot to eating Chinese on the floor of the GRAM, these are the moments that have connected us in community with one another, that have allowed us to enter into each others’ hearts and lives.”

Artist hosting can be as simple as offering artists a room to stay or a garage to store supplies or as involved as helping an artist realize their idea. Interested in hosting an artist?

Here’s how it works:
FORM: Fill out the Host An Artist Form to share some details about yourself and your home with ArtPrize artists seeking hosting.
DISCOVER: Shortly after completing your hosting application you will receive an email from ArtPrize which will include a spreadsheet of the information supplied by Artists detailing their housing requirements and requests.
CONNECT: After reviewing the Artists, you have the ability to reach out to any that you feel would be a great fit and invite them to stay in your home. Artists have the ability to reach out to you as well.
CONFIRM: When you have made a good match and secured your agreement, we ask that you send us an email at to let us know. In this email please let us know if you plan to make additional matches, or if you are ready to have your name removed from the list of available hosts!
