Happy Thanksgiving to our artists, curators, and venue coordinators!
This year, the Exhibitions Team is especially thankful for you. To show our appreciation for your work, we'd like to share a podcast of the October 8, 2014 program Creative Time + Space: a conversation on formal and informal artist residencies, retreats, and travel programs. This is just the type of podcast that will make great company during the nearing winter studio days, and I hope that you enjoy listening.
Creative Time + Space was organized and presented in partnership by ArtPrize Link Sessions and Creative Many Michigan. The converstation kicked off with Caitlin Strokosch, executive director of the Alliance for Artists Communities, who gave an overview of various types of residencies, as well as resources and tools for artists to use when applying.
The program also featured Elizabeth Chodos, executive and creative director at Ox-Bow, discussing their artist residency programs, facilities, and community; artist Kim Cridler telling us about her experience as an artist in residence and then as the residency program coordinator at the John Michael Kohler Art Center; and Shelley Stevens on her experience as the founding director of Golden Apple Art Residency in Harrington, Maine. To learn more about each speaker, download the program overview.
Speaking of thankful, Creative Time + Space was generously supported by the Emily Hall Tremaine Foundation, Haworth, the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, and our host Blue35. Thank you to Ashlee Arder at Creative Many Michigan for being the best collaborator, and to Drew Davis for recording, editing, and producing this podcast.By Heather Duffy on
