As many of you know, St. Cecilia Music Center is taking a one-year hiatus from ArtPrize as they undergo exciting renovations to their historic building.

But fear not...

This year, The Blue Bridge Venue will be the spot for all things Music at ArtPrize!

$10,000 in prizes!: Ten $1,000 awards -- five by public vote, five by expert jury in five categories:

  • Rock/Blues
  • Classical
  • Jazz
  • Folk/Country
  • Pop/Electronica

The Blue Bridge Music Festival: Two days of main-stage music, September 30 and October 1. Paid performance opportunities available for ArtPrize artists, alongside several West Michigan bands and performers to be announced soon. Note: Participating musicians will be selected and booked in advance by the Blue Bridge Venue curator.

The Blue Bridge Sessions: 30-minute busking performance opportunities on the Blue Bridge throughout the 19-day event, except during the Blue Bridge Music Festival. Perform live for ArtPrize visitors to promote your song. Note: Blue Bridge Sessions are open to all musicians connected with the Blue Bridge Venue.

Molly Bouwsma Schultz, winner of a 2014 St. Cecilia Music Award, and Waterfront Film Festival Co-Founder, Hopwood DePree presenting the music awards at the 2015 ArtPrize Awards.

A recording of one original song.

That’s it! Live performances are highly encouraged, but not required or guaranteed.

Entry of one original song is all that is required to be eligible for the $10,000 in Blue Bridge Awards; the $12,500 ArtPrize Time-Based public vote award; and the $200,000 ArtPrize Public Vote Grand Prize! (Cover songs are not eligible. The recording as well as the song itself must be an original work by the registering artist or artist collective.)

Musicians must register on before 5:00 p.m. EDT on June 2, 2016.

Be sure to select the Time-Based category, upload your song, and tag your profile with “music” as well as one (only one) of the following genres: Rock, Blues, Classical, Pop, Electronic, Jazz, Folk or Country. ArtPrize registration fees are $50 for solo artists or $100 for collaborative entries (bands).

Once you are registered, you must visit The Blue Bridge Music Venue profile page on and request a connection.

The Blue Bridge Music Venue is organized by Quinn Mathews of WYCE’s GRLive radio show. Quinn is also a past ArtPrize Artist and winner of St. Cecilia Music Center’s Folk/Country Award at ArtPrize 2014. His band Channing and Quinn have toured nationally, released multiple full-length albums and you can also hear their music in film and television, adding to the soundtrack of “More Than Me” starring former SNL cast member Jim Bruer, “3rd Street Blackout” with Ed Weeks and Janeane Garofalo, and “The Muslims are Coming” featuring comedians Jon Stewart, David Cross and more.

We hope to see you on the Blue Bridge this Fall!
