This year, a new partnership between ArtPrize Link Sessions and ArtServe Michigan's Lawyers for the Creative Economy, will present programming for Artists during Link Sessions.

If you're an Artist who is already coming to Link Sessions, great! If you hadn't planned to attend, you may want to drop in to hear attorneys from LCE discuss legal issues of particular relevance to artists: intellectual property rights, copyright law, the importance of contracts, entity formation, and so much more.

September 18

The first round of programming kicks off September 18, and will feature presentations by Director of Lawyers for the Creative Economy Services, Shivangee Pandya. There will be two presentations: one at 4 p.m. and one at 5 p.m., and she will be discussing entity formation for artists, whether or not becoming an arts non-profit is advisable, and the ins and outs of both. Learn more about Shivangee. Drop-ins welcome!

September 25

During the September 25 Link Sessions, our presenter is Scott Kraemer. Scott is an attorney at Kuiper Orlebeke in Grand Rapids. His presentations, at 4 p.m. and 5 p.m., will cover what an artist should know about copyright, contracts, and business formation. Drop-ins welcome!

September 26

September 26, our presenter is Ariel Bublick, Senior Brand Attorney at Kellogg Company, who will present on trademark, copyrights, and advertising. The presentations will begin at 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Learn more about Ariel. Drop-ins welcome!

October 8

Our partnership with ArtServe and Lawyers for the Creative Economy will culminate in one final presentation on October 8. Creative Time + Space, a discussion on formal and informal residency, retreat, and travel programs for artists, will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will end at 7 p.m.

Caitlin Strokosch of the Alliance for Artists Communities will discuss various types of residencies, as well as resources and tools to use when applying.

We will then hear from Elizabeth Chodos, Executive and Creative Director at Ox-Bow, about their artist residency programs, facilities, and community. Artist Kim Cridler will tell us about her experience as an artist in residence and then as the residency program coordinator at the John Michael Kohler Art Center. And Shelley Stevens will discuss her experience as the founding director of Golden Apple Art Residency in Harrington, Maine. Learn more about this program and presenters.

Creative Time + Space is generously supported by the Emily Hall Tremaine Foundation, the Michigan Council for Cultural Affairs, our host Blue35, and ArtPrize.

Link Sessions events are only open to ArtPrize Artists and Venues. Have questions? E-mail artists@artprize.org.
