ArtPrize is a busy time of year in downtown Grand Rapids. This year, we are thrilled to share the time with many of our cultural partners and friends who will be putting on events during the 18 days of ArtPrize 2021. If you have some spare time (you know, in between seeing all the ~900 entries for ArtPrize 2021), go check out some of the cool things going on downtown between September 16 and October 3. Events below are in order of dates they are happening.

Creston After Dark | September 11


With a mission to promote local economic development through Arts and Culture, this event celebrates local talent and collaborative partnerships within the community while fundraising for the Arts + Creston. There will be an artisan market, kid’s activities, food & drink, music, and more!

Performance+ by Festival for the Arts | September 17 - 19 (CANCELLED)

Calder Plaza

Swing by for live performances by Opera GR, The Diatribe, and GrandJazz Fest, as well as other top area performers while grabbing a bite to eat from some of GR’s best food trucks.  You’ll also be able to meet some of West Michigan’s finest artisans and purchase beautiful art in the Artisan village.

Confluence | September 23 - 25 

Calder Plaza

Confluence is a multi-dimensional ideas festival focused on innovation within the context of art, music, science, and tech. Explore the biggest issues facing the country (energy, transportation, employment, healthcare, equity, etc.) and how the region’s largest corporations and startup communities are laser-focused on innovation to find solutions.

Grand Rapids African American Arts and Music Festival | September 25

Studio Park Piazza

A Grand Rapids event celebrating the outstanding contributions of African-American artists through the visual and performing arts. The boundless artistic contributions of African-Americans will be highlighted during the Grand Rapids African American Art and Music. The festival will immerse the community in art, music, dance and food reflecting the many facets of the city's diversity.

Global Water Fest GR | September 25

Canal Street Park

This family-friendly event on the Grand River features Dragon Boat Races, free paddle boarding lessons, professional water jet demonstrations, and a globally-themed variety of food vendors, artisan booths, live music and entertainment. A tent and social area for adult beverages will be available.

West Michigan Womxn’s Fest | October 2-3

Ah-Nab-Awen Park

This event offers a platform to connect, share, and engage with the local business forum and leaders within the community. The event offers a safe space to highlight diversity within our community and empower women and those of all expressions to grow and succeed in today’s business arena. Swing by to enjoy live music performances, artist and vendor markets, panelists, and speakers!
