- The Public Vote Final 20 Announcement -- presented by Consumer's Energy -- is today at 1 p.m. Join us at Rosa Parks Circle for the official announcement of the ArtPrize Seven Final 20. Find out whether the artworks you voted for have made it through to Round 2 Voting and are in with the chance of winning the $200,000 Public Vote Grand Prize! Don't worry if you can't make it downtown, WOODTV8 will be streaming it live.
- The Fed Galleries at Kendall College of Art and Design will host a Family Tour today at 2 p.m. offering an introduction to contemporary art using the ArtPrize entries at The Fed Galleries. Meet at the Family Tour sign at The Fed Galleries (inside the Woodbridge N. Ferris building) a few minutes before the scheduled time. No registration is required.
- Drop by Rosa Parks Circle and check out the West Michigan Honda Design And Drive competition entries -- vote for your favorite now through until October 8!
- St. Cecilia Music Center has organized over 150 live free performances at five different official ArtPrize busking sites throughout the city. Performances today run from 12 - 6 p.m.
From 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. join Artists Creating Together (ACT) at the Grand Rapids Downtown Market for a free family event that welcomes all ages and abilities to experiment with sensory art activities including face painting, ping-pong ball painting, caricatures, music, and more. Activities are set up for people of all abilities to have fun and find success.
Vote! The Round 2 phase of voting opens at 2 p.m. this afteroon. You have until midnight on October 8 to vote for the artwork out of the Final 20 you think deserves to win the $200,000 Public Vote Grand Prize. Download the free ArtPrize Seven mobile app (for iOS and Android devices) and register now.
St. Cecilia Music Center presents Michigan-based singer and songwriter Joshua Davis who will perform solo, while local folk rock veterans Troll for Trout and bluegrass favorites Fauxgrass Quartet will open the show in the historic Royce Auditorium. The fun begins at 6 p.m. -- Davis will perform at 8 p.m. Get tickets.
The Eddy -- a 10 day festival in downtown Grand Rapids continues today with a great lineup. Stage shows begin at 6 p.m. with other activities running throughout the day. Check out showtimes on the ArtPrize blog.
Grand Rapids Symphony show, Love, Lust & Rock 'n' Roll begins at 8 p.m. tonight, Celebrating hits from the '30s to the '90s with Pink Martini singer Storm Large.

Critical Discourse returns tomorrow, October 5 at 7 p.m. with Why These Finalists? Part 1-- Broadcast live on WOOD TV8 -- a panel of three art experts will discuss half of the public and juried finalists in a lively, humorous, and irreverent debate. Panelists include Jillian Steinhauer, senior editor of Hyperallergic, New York; Anila Quayyum Agha, artist and 2014 ArtPrize winner, Indianapolis.
