A.R. Drew is a Contemporary Artist residing in Granger Indiana. Anna Ryan Drew has been painting since she could hold a brush as a child. Growing up in her mother, Nancy Swan Drews’ studio she was exposed to art as if it was as ordinary as learning to read. It was an everyday experience watching her mother paint the wall, a couch, a chair, a bus. Nothing was off limits. This artistic freedom from her lineage, is very much a part of her works today. Anna went on to University of Michigan for her BFA in Painting, with encouraging accolades of awards in her medium. During her time at Michigan Anna was very involved in art and social justice, connecting with disparaged populations through art. This led her to complete MSW, in Social Work to fuse both passions. Today Anna focuses primarily on Painting in her own space in Downtown South Bend. She continues to utilize her Art to benefit numerous local and national non-profits. Her mixed media and acrylic paintings utilize a simplistic approach to creating meaningful imagery. Drew’s broad lines combined with earth tone shades create the best of landscapes, while her neon palette can produce abstracts and portraiture that pierce the soul. She has a visceral connection to making, and the appreciation of the impact of art has every day. She has exhibited with regional and nationally renowned artists including, Robert De Niro Sr., Paul Rothko, Leland Bell, Bob Thompson and Nancy Swan Drew.
