I began drawing at the encouragement of my family when I was around 4 or 5 years old. Eventually, I entered the University of Oklahoma as an art major to pursue a Fine Arts degree in painting under the guidance of some of the finest professors of the 1960's. Upon marrying and having children, I had to forego my painting but continued with drawing any chance I could find time between responsibilities in the home and at work. As the children grew and my husband and I moved around the country, I was lucky enough to continue studying under the mentorship of some wonderful teachers/artists I met in the areas I was living. Once my children left home and I retired from the corporate world, I began to paint again, full time. I then heard about and purchased a set of colored pencils and was intrigued by the combination of the pencils and the watercolor or acrylic I was using. I eventually began to use the colored pencil as my primary medium because of the control and portability while not giving up painting with water based medias entirely. My works are currently shown in several galleries/exhibits and found in many private collections around the country and I love my full-time job eminencely.
