Amy Deal is a Dayton based artist. She received a BFA in Visual Communications from Kent State University, and began her MBA studies at Wright State University until parenthood interrupted. Amy initially began her career as a creative director working with public relation firms on annual reports, as well as, with advertising & design firms establishing corporate identities to advertising campaigns. After the gap of parenthood, she returned to the world of fine artist. Amy’s various series of works include acrylic, cut paper, hand-painted sewn fabric, mural design, and repurposing waste materials. She has received various awards and is in public and private collections across the United States. Amy is very active in the community and participates in many organizations to enhance social justice issues. Amy‘s latest series of work is a commentary of the waste of our consumer culture. She is fusing single-use plastic items into art that recognizes and brings attention to the waste that is not being recycled and ending up in landfills and in our waterways wreaking havoc on the environment.
