In Art Prize 2016, Allison joined forces with her partner, sculptor, Bryce Pettit to create The Butterfly Effect; a powerfully positive installation of 1,234 Monarch butterflies. Professionally, Allison is a fine art oil painter focused on realistic animals. Her paintings are a mixture of the classic and modern, using traditional materials and subjects, but placing them in a contemporary space with both literal and metaphorical breathing room. There is a clear display of tenderness for her subjects bordering on idealization. This same idea carries through into The Butterfly Effect, where Allison used her extensive background in museum and gallery curation, and interior design to help create a piece that lives and moves through the space it inhabits. Allison has designed large pieces for hospitals around the west, and shown her work in some of the most prestigious shows in the country. She and Bryce both spend a great deal of time working for wildlife rescues as another outlet to express their shared love for the natural world and animal kingdom. It is her hope that The Butterfly Effect brings a positive message about conservation and the work we must do to preserve biological & ecological wonders.
