I am a retired endodontist who five years ago didn't know what a tablesaw was. In an effort to transition into retirement I took a Wood Bowl making class at the Commons at Evergreen in Holland. From making that first popcorn bowl to where I have evolved today, woodworking has left me with a wonderful feeling. When I start a project I always try to have a shape that is ascetically pleasing to the eye. For me, shape is the most dominant part of the artistic process. Then choosing the correct colors of wood and pattern to work with, the project starts to materialize in a flowing manner. Most the time the piece looks great on paper and it is not until you've actually built it that you realize the first one will be the Proto type to what you really want. After changing your art piece ever so slightly I finally end up with something that you are proud of.
