Kathy Goodell, an American artist, was born in San Francisco, California. She attended The San Francisco Art Institute, receiving a BFA and MFA degree in sculpture. She became known in California for her delicate, constructed sculptures, often suspended from the ceiling and incorporating such materials as copper, glass, fabric and salt crystals. Kathy Goodell's present work spans multiple forms with primary focus on sculpture and drawing. In 1983 Goodell moved to New York City where she continued to develop her sculpture and drawings. She has exhibited her work both nationally and internationally having had solo exhibitions in San Francisco, New York, and Boston, and has been included in numerous museum exhibitons. She has been the recipient of two National Endowment for the Arts Grants, two New York Foundation for the Arts Grants, a Pollock-Krasner Grant, a Phelan Award, a Fulbright Fellowship and a California Commission for the Art Grant. She currently teaches at Suny New Paltz, NY.
