Methuselah

Christine Osinski's avatar Christine Osinski

Our experience of time is limited to the scale of a human life. A human lifespan comes and goes in the blink of an eye in comparison to the timeline in which nature lives. This piece depicts the personification of the tree Methuselah, speculated to be one of the oldest living organisms, bearing witness to almost 5,000 years. Bearing witness to rapid changes in the natural world as a result of human life. Hand blown and sculpted glass with cast bronze using the lost-wax process.
