I was inspired to create a portrait of George Floyd and other black people who have lost their lives at the hands of the police. The video of George Floyd's murder has been engraved into the brains and hearts of those who have viewed it. George's words, "I can't breathe", echo in our ears for all time. Inspired by The Black Lives Matter Movement, I began to research the lives of those, who in recent years, have died at the hands of the police forces around the country. My entry is the portraits of these individuals who were lost too soon. My collection of twenty portraits are created in an abstract style where the combination of colors creates an emotional representation of the events that ended their lives.
