“Mondrian Wndows” is inspired by the graphics designs of Piet Mondrian. The piece incorporates colored glass block secured by geometric shapes created from recycled steel. The larger circle is a wagon wheel from the early 20th century and the base is created from the negative space of machined plasma parts. The inspiration for this piece came from the wagon wheel. Once i find a piece of metal I look for another that has an affinity to it then I work to creat harmony and balance. The use of geometric shapes layered on each other create a contemporary take on the 2-D Mondrian design. The piece is finished in a gun metal grey with a metallic finish. The glass is transparent and is best viewed in a sunny location.
