When Morning Lights the Skies: Beer City, USA, Conquers Covid 19

A Longtime Grand Rapidian's avatar A Longtime Grand Rapidian

This is a large (approximately 2 feet tall and 6 feet long) representation of a photo of the Grand Rapids skyline from a relatively rare western vantage point. The representation produced with spray paint numerousous colored vinyl sheets self-adhered to white plexiglas to approximate the photo. In addition, fabric brings texture to the foreground, approximating the trees and grasses depicted. Stirring and triumphant music, approximately 2 minutes long, triggers strobe lighting to backlight the entry. The work's purpose is to illustrate our Beer City, USA, in the throes of Covid 19 for most of 2020, but in the process of conquering it during ArtPrize 2021 - "when morning lights to the skies".
