Galvanized Grand Rapids

Megan Hutchins's avatar Megan Hutchins

The great Grand Rapids skyline rendered with galvanized roofing nails. There are multiple heights of nails to create a dynamic depth between the buildings. As the light changes throughout the day, it will highlight different areas of the piece and the nails will shimmer and shine shifting the overall look constantly. The live edge wood was milled by myself from the Adirondacks in upstate New York! The spectacular grain gives this piece one of a kind detail... the dots on the top even look like stars! Oil paint is added to the wood for an enchanting look and the washers on the buildings and the wire on the bridges create a little extra detail.
