I was inspired to paint Kobe Bryant after the terrible tragedy with the helicopter crash that claimed his life and that of Gianna Bryant, Ara Zobayan, Christina Mauser, Alyssa Altobelli, John Altobelli, Keri Altobelli, Sarah Chester, and Payton Chester. So many precious lives were lost on January 26, 2020. Kobe had been an inspiration on the basketball court as well as off the court. The name of my painting is called "GRANITY" which is something he used to say stood for "Greater Than Infinity." When you leave a legacy you create a path for those that follow. Not always is our life perfect or free of obstacles and challenges, but our choices in how we deal with those situations is what propels us forward. Often times in life we strive to achieve greatness, but we often neglect to encourage and help those around us to do the same. In my painting, Kobe is leading the way as he looks back. His gaze is encouraging others to follow.
