The 20ths of January (Lunar Eclipse over Grand Rapids)

Russell Cooper's avatar Russell Cooper

January 20, 2019. Perfectly clear skies in Winter in West Michigan is a rare thing, and to coincide with the lunar eclipse was serendipitous. It hovered around 0 degrees for the 4 hours I was shooting this composite, so I hopped in and out of the car about every 10 minutes. I focused on the moon, and afterwards wasn't really happy with the skyline. Fast forward to 2021, while photographing Hybycozo's at Ah-Nab-Awen Park on another rare clear sky evening, I remembered my skyline. AND, it also happened to be on January 20. Multiple shots on multiple January 20ths.
