Forty Good Hours

Karen Hain's avatar Karen Hain

Forty Good Hours is a macrame wall hanging made up of hundreds of knots. What started as a branch and some rope turned into art. For me, a disabled artist who lives with Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension and is often stuck in bed, Forty Good Hours represents my gratefulness and hope. When all seems lost, I look at the art I've been able to make, sometimes in only 15 minute increments, and how it adds up to a huge, complete piece. Seeing the layers of knots reminds me that there are good days, times when I can work toward goals. I may be able to do a lot less than I used to or dream of, but I can still do this! Every panel physically shows minutes where I was feeling healthy and like myself.
