Earthwork Portraits

Sweet & Shackleton

Earthwork Portraits is an installation drawing created directly on soil. It is an impermanent work made of earth-based media that will return nutrients to the soil as it dissolves. Native seeds will be worked into the drawings to germinate over winter. A very limited number of photographs from the installation will be available at auction.

About Sweet & Shackleton

Liz Sweet and Jamie Shackleton met while attending Kendall College of Art and Design in 2006. As mothers and professional artists local to Grand Rapids, they share a vision to make positive changes to the natural world around them for their children's future. This concept forms the basis for the Earthwork Portraits installation piece.
