Covid Time CAPSule

Donna Dzialo's avatar Donna Dzialo

I am a Nurse from Ascension Rochester, MI that 2 years ago began saving discarded drug vial caps. Depicted here are over 395 different varieties of caps: color, size, shape and texture- totaling over 6,000. During assembly IV tubing, line extensions, glucose needles covers also proved valuable. Coworkers began to share their caps with me- so helpful. I individually glued all items to represent: Covid (top left corner), entering the infected purple cell (below), next Covid forms into infected intracellular particles (multicolored circles) and viral replication begins at the red 'mRNA' chain, then Covid clusters form (mostly of lime green caps & flag shaped tabs) to multiply and spread. We have Immune defenses: White Blood Cells (WBC), Antibody Producing Cell (orange) and Antibodies (yellow windmill structures), and at the top right corner you see a spidery looking cell, it is a Natural Killer Cell (in front of a WBC). Healthy cells (bottom right), in shades of Blue/Green are protected.
