(fl)ASH Pointe is a ballerina table made from carved ash wood. Each of the three layers of the tutu started out as a 4 inch thick piece. They were individually carved with die grinders to nest inside each other. The legs were roughed out with a chain saw, and then detail carved with die grinders. A white wash was used on the legs and then sanded back to only appear in the open grain of the wood. The whole piece was hand sanded and given a clear polycrylic finish. There is a hidden steel beam that runs through the leg and is mounted into the pedestal base for stability.
