These windows commemorate the memory of Marcin Halaczkiewicz as he looks back across the river to a life he left too soon. The image depicts Marcin reflecting on the natural world and the stories that ground us and recall our humanity. Each of the animals in the windows identifies a myth, fable or fairytale rooted in our longings, fears and hopes; all of which Marcin can now only view from a distance, severed from who he was. (Can you find the hidden figures? Stop by in person to find them.) The mural is a reminder to all of us on the other side of the river not only of the loved ones we have lost but also of the qualities we have embraced in the past and should continue to embrace as we fight to understand our place in the world.
