Endangered: Truede, Luptaprāya, Na Likama

Nicole Van Dyken's avatar Nicole Van Dyken

Endangered is a 3-piece series that takes the viewer around the world to see 3 majestic and powerful creatures and raise the awareness that our world should not be without them. Each is drawn in pen with tons of dots & are black and white except for fluorescent frames to add a pop of colorful energy and contrast. The fluorescent frames even glow under black light. This series took 77 hours to complete and only in person can you really enjoy the detail and all of the tiny dots! 1) Truede: A polar bear in Greenland. Her name means Endangered in Danish. 2) Luptaprāya: A Bengal Tiger from India. I’ve named her the Hindi word for Endangered. 3) Na Likama: An African Forest Elephant and her name means “at risk” in the Lingala language, one of many spoken in The Republic of The Congo. She is from the Congo Basin. If this inspires you to help endangered animals visit worldwildlife.org (WWF) to donate or get involved.
