The First United Methodist Church outdoor sanctuary; a collaboration project with Jaylei Art and students of West Michigan Center for Arts and Technology(WMCAT) in Grand Rapids, is a space that goes above and beyond to uplift individuals in extravagant ways. First United Methodist Church installed multiple garden walls with harvested fruits and vegetables that will be donated to their partner in ministry, Westminster Food Pantry. After all planters were installed, Jamari Taylor and students of WMCAT teamed up to create artsy and uplifting compositions in four different panels to complete the First United Sanctuary. Throughout each of these compositions numerous symbols are used to remind viewers of finding a peace of mind, keeping faith, and continuing to move forward on their journey! This sanctuary will not only be a space of healing, but it's also a space to worship, find safety, and love for the First United congregation and community of Grand Rapids.
